Finished Shopping bag.

1. Cut off handles.
2. Cut off ends.
3. Cut into strips and interlock.
4. Spin into plarn.

So what do you do with 100 shopping bags and way to much time on your hands? Why you make plarn (plastic yarn) and crochet a shopping bag with it. First I cut off the handles then the ends. I used a rotary cutter so much easier then scissors and I can do 10 bags at a time. After cutting them into 1 inch strips I lace them together, and using a drop spindle spin the strips into plarn. I then used an "N" hook and crocheted a shopping bag.

Renaissance Festival 2009

Ren Fest was a blast! The weather was perfect, clear skies and 80 degrees with a breeze to keep it from being hot. There was music every where you went and the people were friendly and cheerful. The costumes were the best I've seen outside the theater. I wish I had brought mine, I do so love dressing up and joining in the fun. Still with shows like Ded Bob, watching the jousts, shopping and of course the food I had a grand time of it. A good time was indeed had by all. Can't wait till next year.

I finally finished my new reading journal. It is sewn together with a Coptic stitch to a hard cover. I didn't use a hard spine so that it will lay flat when opened. I put a vellum pocket on the front and it holds a note pad. On the back I put a library pocket to hold book markers and 3x5 index cards. It has ribbon ties and a ribbon marker. I have a section to list the books I'm reading, and a section to write a comment about the books I've read, There is also a section to list book I have and want to read and one section to list books I don't have but want to read.

Garett's Visit July 4th, 2009

Garett's visit was a lot of fun. We went to a flea market in Spring, it was large and we only got lost once. Then we went to Papa's Barbeque, cause Garett wanted GOOD barbeque, boy do they give you a lot! After wards we went to a couple of bookstores (my personal favorite) and then finished at Hobby Lobby. Bri had bought some really gorgeous
purple beads and huge black beads and wanted me to make her a rosary. I used black coated wire and a silver centerpiece and cross. I wish I had taken a picture of it, but I forgot. She decides she wanted to learn to embroider so my mom and I got together the things she needed and showed her the basic stitches. She picked it up quickly and finished the first rose in a few hours. She has a real knack for needlework. Then we took some pictures and they left for California. I really miss them and wish they could have stayed longer.

Garden Flowers

Aren't they a lovey color? When everything else is turning brown these are still struggling to bring a splash of color to the world.

Cameron's Visit 6-14-2009

Cameron and his wife Brittany visiting his Grandmother. He sure did enjoy her cooking. Can't get that in Afghanistan.
The Kids resting after a long car ride here. Don't they look good.

Yea! Cameron came home for his two week R&R this month. Of course his visit was way to short and he is way to thin. He'll need to go back to Afghanistan for some rest after this whirl wind two weeks of trying to visit everyone. But he looked good was in great spirits and was enjoying his time home. I miss him already.
